Code, Financial Institutions § 13–1005","heading":"","body":"(a) The Authority consists of:\n(1) Six members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate;\n(2) One representative of the United States Department of the Interior, as designated by the Department of the Interior;\n(3) One representative of the Maryland Historical Trust; and\n(4) One representative of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Cumberland.\n(b) The Governor shall designate one of the members of the Authority as chairman.\n(c) (1) The term of a member is 4 years.\n(2) The terms of members appointed by the Governor are staggered as required by the terms of the members serving on July 1, 2001.\n(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(5) At the end of the term of a member or on the resignation or removal of a member, the Governor shall appoint a member to the Authority with the advice and consent of the Senate.\n(d) The Governor may remove a nonfederal member for incompetence, misconduct, or failure to perform the duties of the position.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=13-1005","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"77d20033d895f9bd9ded0631042a77d1736dfa6ba1059455a736d214d2de3927","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-13-1004","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-13-1006"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
