Code, Financial Institutions § 3–101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Capital stock” includes both common and preferred stock of a commercial bank.\n(c) “Debt instrument” means any capital note, debenture, bond, or certificate of beneficial interest issued by a commercial bank.\n(d) “Inhabitants” means the population of a municipal area, as determined by the latest federal or State census.\n(e) “Nondepository trust company” means a trust company that is not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.\n(f) “State bank” means an institution that is incorporated under the laws of this State as a bank.\n(g) “Trust company” means an institution that is incorporated under the laws of this State as a trust company.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=3-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"46b85ecced0cf6fbad8b8f963c16e891bec89dc1bb8d47b6586edcd9f4f8fda5","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-2-401","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-3-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
