Code, Financial Institutions § 3–518","heading":"","body":"(a) A trust company may register in the name of a nominee any assets of a common trust fund that it administers.\n(b) The nominee may be either an individual or a partnership.\n(c) A trust company that registers assets in the name of a nominee shall:\n(1) Show the assets and the name of the nominee on its records; and\n(2) If the nominee is operated or controlled by the trust company, supervise any possession or control of the assets by the nominee.\n(d) A transfer agent or registrar of a corporation whose stocks, bonds, securities, or other obligations are registered in the name of a nominee under this section is not required to investigate and may not be held liable for treating the nominee as the owner of the assets.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=3-518","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"abc5d3dfad418b20e0d2a0c35e1db89049f70b3fafb34500fda0aba2762a2248","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-3-517","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-3-519"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
