Code, Financial Institutions § 6–715","heading":"","body":"(a) A credit union shall keep the books and records that the Commissioner requires to determine compliance with this title.\n(b) Unless a longer period is expressly required by State or federal law, a credit union shall retain the books and records required under subsection (a) of this section for a period of at least 5 years.\n(c) A credit union may retain the books and records required under subsection (a) of this section at any location, provided that the credit union:\n(1) Notifies the Commissioner in writing of the location of the books and records; and\n(2) Makes the books and records available at the credit union’s principal place of business, as agreed by the Commissioner and the credit union, within 7 days of a written request for examination by the Commissioner.\n(d) A credit union shall retain the books and records required under subsection (a) of this section in one of the following ways:\n(1) Original form;\n(2) An electronic equivalent approved by the Commissioner; or\n(3) A microphotographic copy approved by the Commissioner.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=6-715","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"7bb38792b98805a0c6f9cf833f10674521812b03f107cb073224b673b8cf2657","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-6-714","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-6-801"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
