Code, General Provisions § 3–402","heading":"","body":"(a) In accordance with § 3–401 of this subtitle, a public body that willfully meets with knowledge that the meeting is being held in violation of this subtitle is subject to a civil penalty not to exceed:\n(1) $250 for the first violation; and\n(2) $1,000 for each subsequent violation that occurs within 3 years after the first violation.\n(b) When determining the amount of a fine under subsection (a) of this section, the court shall consider the financial resources available to the public body and the ability of the public body to pay the fine.","path":["Article - General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ggp\u0026section=3-402","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:37Z","sha256":"f890f407aec02c8e1c36745234e16cd385cf24591338c180113bb637e77e4274","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-3-401","next":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-3-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
