Code, General Provisions § 4–503","heading":"","body":"(a) Each governmental unit that maintains public records shall:\n(1) identify a representative who a member of the public should contact to request a public record from the governmental unit;\n(2) maintain contact information for the governmental unit’s representative that includes:\n(i) the representative’s name;\n(ii) the representative’s business address;\n(iii) the representative’s business phone number;\n(iv) the representative’s business electronic mail address; and\n(v) the Internet address of the governmental unit;\n(3) (i) post the contact information maintained under item (2) of this subsection in a user–friendly format on the website of the governmental unit; or\n(ii) if the governmental unit does not have a website, keep the contact information maintained under item (2) of this subsection at a place easily accessible by the public;\n(4) annually update the contact information maintained under item (2) of this subsection; and\n(5) annually submit the contact information maintained under item (2) of this subsection to the Office of the Attorney General.\n(b) The Office of the Attorney General shall:\n(1) post the contact information submitted under subsection (a)(5) of this section in a user–friendly format on the website of the Office of the Attorney General; and\n(2) include the contact information submitted under subsection (a)(5) of this section in any Public Information Act manual published by the Office of the Attorney General.","path":["Article - General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ggp\u0026section=4-503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:37Z","sha256":"8d4b23b4901a74f57e97d451858dbaefe4f5b252bb26e73598f2ad0f0056a363","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-4-502","next":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-4-601"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
