Code, General Provisions § 5–801","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Lobbying” means performing acts, of a nature comparable to acts requiring registration under Subtitle 7 of this title, before the local government involved.\n(c) (1) In Baltimore City, “local official” includes:\n(i) city employees and officials of the Baltimore City Health Department;\n(ii) the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City and the civilian employees and police officers of the Police Department of Baltimore City; and\n(iii) members and employees of the Civilian Review Board.\n(2) In Baltimore County, “local official” includes:\n(i) board members and the chief executive of the Baltimore County Revenue Authority; and\n(ii) for the purpose of the financial disclosure provisions enacted by the governing body of Baltimore County, except for a member of the Baltimore County Board of Education, members of a board of a State agency that is wholly or partly funded by Baltimore County, regardless of whether a member is compensated.\n(3) In Montgomery County, “local official” includes:\n(i) members and employees of the Montgomery County Revenue Authority;\n(ii) commissioners and employees of the Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission; and\n(iii) county employees of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.\n(4) In St. Mary’s County, “local official” includes commissioners and employees of the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission.","path":["Article - General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ggp\u0026section=5-801","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:37Z","sha256":"02e39d116de332d0087514aec60bd058b86ac8cb4359c2d16d726f67f3cc6f96","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-5-716","next":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-5-804"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
