Code, General Provisions § 5–821","heading":"","body":"(a) If the Ethics Commission determines that a school board, as required under § 5–816(a)(2) of this subtitle, has not complied with and has not made good–faith efforts toward compliance with the requirements of this Part III, the Ethics Commission:\n(1) may issue a public notice concerning the failure of compliance with this part, including a listing of specific areas of noncompliance;\n(2) may issue an order providing that officials and employees of the school board are subject to the local ethics laws in the county in which the school board is located; and\n(3) may petition a circuit court with venue over the proceeding for appropriate relief to compel compliance.\n(b) The circuit court may grant any available equitable relief.","path":["Article - General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ggp\u0026section=5-821","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:37Z","sha256":"a8e55764f8946bbce2d6a4bcffb6fe26079d9d02b3a08f6fdbd95e5877bdc832","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-5-820","next":"us-md/md.-code-general-provisions-5-822"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
