Code, Health - General § 10–1002","heading":"","body":"(a) A person may not:\n(1) Knowingly make a false application or certificate in connection with the admission or detention of any individual; or\n(2) Detain an individual in a manner contrary to Subtitle 6 or Subtitle 8 of this title.\n(b) A person who violates any provision of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 2 years or both.\n(c) In addition to any other penalties specified in this section, a person who willfully violates any provision of this section is liable for civil damages sustained by the individual who is admitted or detained unlawfully.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=10-1002","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"1e00edbddc04570f045b08fd6f077958718a5faf4e6ba79857839516c8a4c283","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-10-1001","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-10-1003"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
