Code, Health - General § 10–610","heading":"","body":"(a) On behalf of a minor, a parent or guardian of the person of the minor may apply, under this section, for admission of the minor to:\n(1) Any facility that is not a State facility; or\n(2) The following State facilities:\n(i) A regional institute for children and adolescents; and\n(ii) The child or adolescent unit of a State facility.\n(b) The applicant shall submit a formal, written application that contains the personal information and is on the form required by the Administration.\n(c) A facility may not admit an individual under this section unless:\n(1) The individual has a mental disorder;\n(2) The mental disorder is susceptible to care or treatment;\n(3) The applicant understands the nature of a request for admission; and\n(4) Assent to the admission has been given:\n(i) By the admitting physician of the facility; or\n(ii) For a child or adolescent unit of a State facility, by:\n1. 1 physician and 1 psychologist;\n2. 2 physicians;\n3. 1 physician and 1 psychiatric nurse practitioner;\n4. 1 physician and 1 licensed certified social worker–clinical; or\n5. 1 physician and 1 licensed clinical professional counselor.\n(d) An admission under this section to a child or adolescent unit of a State facility may not exceed 20 days.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=10-610","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"c1387af84aec61335ff398ce1c4eaf74318ece46a5a4ccdf3155581f5d8e9586","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-10-609","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-10-611"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
