Code, Health - General § 13–112","heading":"","body":"(a) The Secretary may contract or delegate the screening required under § 13–111 of this subtitle to another entity with the approval of the State Advisory Council on Hereditary and Congenital Disorders.\n(b) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, a laboratory other than the Department’s public health laboratory may perform postscreening confirmatory or diagnostic tests on newborn infants for hereditary and congenital disorders.\n(c) Before offering or performing a postscreening test on a newborn infant for hereditary and congenital disorders under subsection (b) of this section, a laboratory shall:\n(1) Obtain and maintain a license issued by the Secretary as required by Title 17 of this article; and\n(2) Meet all the standards and requirements for a laboratory to perform tests on newborn infants for hereditary and congenital disorders that are established by the Secretary.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=13-112","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"d45a46b9a40bb5817f39c08bea8e2f38b1032e9ac40ade29ee81ceff6ad79d28","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-111","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-113"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
