Code, Health - General § 13–1704","heading":"","body":"(a) The director shall:\n(1) Establish a statewide asthma coalition composed of individuals and organizations with an interest in asthma;\n(2) Develop and finalize a comprehensive statewide asthma plan;\n(3) After finalization of the development of the statewide asthma plan, implement a statewide asthma intervention program;\n(4) Develop and organize collaborative relationships with asthma control and stakeholders within other State and local agencies and in the private sector;\n(5) Develop and implement an asthma surveillance system;\n(6) Upon completion of the asthma surveillance system in paragraph (5) of this subsection, identify mechanisms for the utilization of surveillance data in identifying interventions to control asthma;\n(7) Identify and promote educational programs for providers, parents, guardians, caregivers, and asthma patients that include information on identifying symptoms of asthma, effective treatment for asthma, and methods of preventing asthma; and\n(8) Identify sources of grant funding for the Asthma Control Program.\n(b) The Program may:\n(1) Provide funding for local asthma intervention initiatives; and\n(2) Provide training for school personnel, or other appropriate personnel, on asthma education in conjunction with the Department of Education and local health departments.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=13-1704","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"4fba3d882c1e0800ff058a7d3035c5368425c6d405afc0ff6b4b278b57f77b28","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-1703","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-1705"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
