Code, Health - General § 13–2202","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a Child Abuse Medical Providers (Maryland CHAMP) Initiative in the Department.\n(b) The purposes of the Initiative are:\n(1) To improve the protection of children in the State;\n(2) To recruit local physicians to gain clinical expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of child abuse and neglect;\n(3) To develop and guide the practice of local or regional multidisciplinary teams to improve the medical assessment and treatment of children who are the subject of a child abuse or neglect investigation or a child in need of assistance;\n(4) To facilitate the appropriate prosecution of criminal child abuse and neglect; and\n(5) To provide expert consultation and training to local or regional multidisciplinary teams in the diagnosis and treatment of physical child abuse and neglect and sexual abuse through teleconferencing and on–site services.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=13-2202","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"ea4f0f7d45e0b8b9b338f7f632005d57ccbbc0b9b4dd580839e21f415e77b231","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-2201","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-2203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
