Code, Health - General § 13–3701","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Advisory Committee” means the State Community Health Worker Advisory Committee.\n(c) “Community health worker” means a frontline public health worker who:\n(1) Is a trusted member of, or has an unusually close understanding of, the community being served;\n(2) Serves as a liaison to, link to, or intermediary between health and social services and the community to:\n(i) Facilitate access to services; and\n(ii) Improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery; and\n(3) Builds individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self–sufficiency through a range of activities, including:\n(i) Outreach;\n(ii) Community education;\n(iii) The provision of information to support individuals in the community;\n(iv) Social support; and\n(v) Advocacy.\n(d) “Fund” means the State Community Health Workers Fund established under § 13–3707 of this subtitle.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=13-3701","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"7b3111b7bc4bba4ad8f1c3bbfb1150361747ed29a894794481200b0942c78771","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-3603","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-3702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
