Code, Health - General § 13–5501","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Eligible organization” means an organization that:\n(1) (i) 1. Is owned by or employs health care practitioners who are authorized to practice under the Health Occupations Article; and\n2. Provides equitable access to abortion care clinical services for individuals without sufficient resources; or\n(ii) Administers a fund to provide equitable access to abortion care clinical services for individuals without sufficient resources;\n(2) Is in good standing in the state or jurisdiction in which the organization is registered or incorporated; and\n(3) Has policies that do not restrict access to abortion care and are consistent with Title 20, Subtitle 2 of this article.\n(c) “Fund” means the Public Health Abortion Grant Program Fund.\n(d) “Individuals without sufficient resources” means individuals who are:\n(1) Uninsured;\n(2) Underinsured, without sufficient abortion coverage; or\n(3) Unable to use their insurance due to the risks posed by communication from insurance carriers regarding coverage.\n(e) “Program” means the Public Health Abortion Grant Program.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=13-5501","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"e60105cc4392b23107e0d9cce86306b4347b8da9ab514433ff44ef5ca0a6fadc","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-5401","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-5502"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
