Code, Health - General § 13–604","heading":"","body":"(a) The Secretary may contract with any qualified person to administer the Program.\n(b) The Secretary shall:\n(1) Develop a system to gather and maintain data;\n(2) Develop methods to:\n(i) Contact parents or guardians of newborns and their identified primary care providers regarding the results of the newborn hearing screening;\n(ii) Contact parents or guardians of newborns and infants who have, or are at risk for developing, a permanent hearing status that affects speech–language skills; and\n(iii) Ensure families are referred to appropriate services;\n(3) Establish a toll–free telephone line to communicate information about hearing status that affects speech–language skills and services for infants who have, or are at risk for developing, a permanent hearing status that affects speech–language skills;\n(4) Appoint an Advisory Council for the Program;\n(5) Meet annually with the Advisory Council; and\n(6) In consultation with the Advisory Council, adopt rules and regulations necessary to implement the Program.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=13-604","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"a0dd18cad2dd3d43de5177a026fba73177b4ae87f7ccb1bcb145fc2256e4cd76","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-603","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-13-605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
