Code, Health - General § 18–503","heading":"","body":"(a) On determination of the presence of sickle cell anemia, the Department shall:\n(1) Notify in writing:\n(i) The physician of record or the institution at which the child is born; and\n(ii) The parents or guardian of the infant;\n(2) Provide the parents or guardian of the infant and the physician of record with educational materials; and\n(3) Offer referral for genetic counseling.\n(b) Within 2 months after a positive finding of sickle cell anemia, a confirmatory test shall be administered and the results of this test shall be reported to the Department.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=18-503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"58548728ca82177d23150b8d79b439f7df389c3776c0f84215f7a55ca34a08e3","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-18-502","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-18-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
