Code, Health - General § 18–508","heading":"","body":"(a) The Department, in consultation with the Statewide Steering Committee on Sickle Cell Disease, shall establish and implement a system of providing information on the sickle cell trait or the thalassemia trait to:\n(1) An individual who has the sickle cell trait or the thalassemia trait, including as determined through a newborn screening under § 18–502 of this subtitle; and\n(2) If the individual is a minor, the individual’s family.\n(b) The Department shall include the following in the information provided under subsection (a) of this section:\n(1) How the sickle cell trait or the thalassemia trait impacts the health of an individual with the trait; and\n(2) How the sickle cell trait or the thalassemia trait is passed from a parent to a child.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=18-508","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"525fc15ff0f04abb68d1494757c4a9ddcda675a8fb9d930f74691cf625899359","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-18-507","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-18-509"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
