Code, Health - General § 18–9A–04","heading":"","body":"(a) The Department shall convene a Maryland Public Health Modernization Workgroup.\n(b) The Workgroup shall include representatives of the Department, local health departments, subject matter experts, and any other relevant stakeholders.\n(c) The Workgroup shall:\n(1) Assess the current public health infrastructure and resources in the State;\n(2) Make recommendations for how to establish a modern and effective public health system with a capacity to:\n(i) Monitor, prevent, control, and mitigate the spread of infectious disease; and\n(ii) Achieve State Health Improvement Process goals;\n(3) Make recommendations regarding the establishment of a Maryland Public Health Job Corps to respond to the outbreak of COVID–19 or similar outbreaks; and\n(4) Consider, where appropriate, the use of federal funds to implement any recommendations made under this subsection.\n(d) On or before December 1, 2021, the Department shall submit a report to the General Assembly, in accordance with § 2–1257 of the State Government Article, that includes the findings and recommendations of the Workgroup established under this section.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=18-9A-04","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"fa1ad1029fbde204d7a7631849797cf35d512308afb4d6238c0a8d4b97e2bb54","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-18-9a-03","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-18-1001"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
