Code, Health - General § 19–1201","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Comprehensive physical rehabilitation services” means:\n(1) A program of coordinated, integrated, interdisciplinary, physician-directed services provided by or under the supervision of physicians qualified or experienced in rehabilitation that:\n(i) Includes evaluation and treatment of individuals with physical disabilities;\n(ii) Emphasizes education and training of individuals with disabilities; and\n(iii) Incorporates:\n1. At least 4 of the following core disciplines:\nA. Physical therapy;\nB. Occupational therapy;\nC. Speech and language therapy;\nD. Psychotherapy;\nE. Rehabilitation nursing; and\nF. Social work; and\n2. At least 2 of the following disciplines:\nA. Psychology;\nB. Audiology;\nC. Respiratory therapy;\nD. Therapeutic recreation;\nE. Orthotics;\nF. Prosthetics;\nG. Special education or instruction; and\nH. Vocational rehabilitation; and\n(2) Any other service that the Secretary may designate by regulation.\n(c) “Comprehensive rehabilitation facility” means:\n(1) Any person that provides or holds himself out as providing comprehensive physical rehabilitation services on an out-patient basis; or\n(2) A hospital that is licensed as a special rehabilitation hospital under Subtitle 3 of this title.\n(d) (1) “Health care facility” includes any facility defined in § 19-114(d) of this title.\n(2) “Health care facility” does not include a home health agency that is licensed under Subtitle 4 of this title.\n(e) “Specialized rehabilitation program” means any of the specialty programs that the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities accredits, including:\n(1) Spinal cord injury programs;\n(2) Head injury programs; and\n(3) Infant and early childhood developmental programs.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=19-1201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"f17ce0c209daa2dbcd479bced2a5222cca2d7d20782e26899e5949db72c418bd","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-914","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-1202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
