Code, Health - General § 19–129","heading":"","body":"(a) Notwithstanding the fact that a merger or consolidation may limit free economic competition, the Commission may approve the merger or consolidation of 2 or more hospitals if the merger or consolidation:\n(1) Is not inconsistent with the State health plan or any institution-specific plan;\n(2) Will result in the delivery of more efficient and effective hospital services; and\n(3) Is in the public interest.\n(b) Notwithstanding the fact that a merger or consolidation or the joint ownership and operation of major medical equipment may limit free economic competition, a hospital may engage in a merger or consolidation or the joint ownership of major medical equipment that has been approved by the Commission under this section.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=19-129","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"3aa3ed13450083e7c359b400607e11e042c7d13938db7b562c8ea4576170f62b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-128","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
