Code, Health - General § 19–2111","heading":"","body":"// EFFECTIVE UNTIL JUNE 30, 2035 PER CHAPTER 386 OF 2024 //\n(a) The Commission, in collaboration with community health resources and local health departments, shall develop a specialty care network for individuals:\n(1) With family income that does not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level; and\n(2) Who are referred through a community health resource.\n(b) The specialty care network shall:\n(1) Consist of health care practitioners who agree to provide care to individuals referred through a community health resource for a discounted fee established by the Commission; and\n(2) Include health care practitioners who historically have served the uninsured.\n(c) Individuals receiving health care through the specialty care network shall pay for specialty care according to a sliding fee scale developed by the Commission.\n(d) In addition to patient fees, office–based specialty care visits, diagnostic testing, and laboratory tests shall be subsidized by funds provided from:\n(1) General funds; and\n(2) Money collected from a nonprofit health maintenance organization in accordance with § 6–121(b)(3) of the Insurance Article.\n(e) Subject to available funding, the Commission shall provide subsidies to community health resources for office–based specialty care visits, diagnostic testing, and laboratory tests.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=19-2111","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"f041d85f45710b872c610cdbe8b1cfb55963044aea872128f4e395da8951dc5e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-2109","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-2201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
