Code, Health - General § 19–509","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Each board consists of 7 members appointed by the Governor.\n(2) The Governor shall appoint the members from a list of qualified individuals submitted to the Governor by the Secretary.\n(b) Each member of the board for a center:\n(1) Shall be a citizen of this State;\n(2) Shall be a resident of a county that the center serves;\n(3) Shall be representative of the community; and\n(4) Shall be known for an interest in civic and public affairs and for concern about the care of chronically ill individuals.\n(c) (1) The term of a member is 4 years.\n(2) The terms of members are staggered as required by the terms provided for members of each board on July 1, 1982. The terms of those members end as follows:\n(i) 1 in 1983.\n(ii) 4 in 1984.\n(iii) 1 in 1985.\n(iv) 1 in 1986.\n(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(5) A member who serves 2 consecutive full 4-year terms may not be reappointed for 4 years after completion of those terms.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=19-509","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"4f8c8a51f54fa9b77c90db377c341ff50a4c1d839a95b9557dec79f75bad4380","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-508","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-19-510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
