Code, Health - General § 20–1501","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Down syndrome” means a chromosomal condition caused by an error in cell division that results in the presence of an extra whole or partial copy of chromosome 21.\n(c) (1) “Health care facility” means a facility or an office where health or medical care is provided to patients by a health care provider.\n(2) “Health care facility” includes a hospital and a limited service hospital.\n(d) (1) “Health care provider” means a person who is licensed, certified, or otherwise authorized under the Health Occupations Article to provide health or medical care in the ordinary course of business or practice of a profession.\n(2) “Health care provider” includes a genetic counselor.\n(e) “Hospital” has the meaning stated in § 19–301 of this article.\n(f) “Limited service hospital” has the meaning stated in § 19–301 of this article.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=20-1501","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"5df8a47012695b7fc9b4e7171cf954f0129f7ccaf7361be8cd64121a17f9eb1e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-20-1408","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-20-1502"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
