Code, Health - General § 20–701","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies only in:\n(1) Allegany County;\n(2) Anne Arundel County;\n(3) Charles County;\n(4) Harford County;\n(5) Kent County;\n(6) Montgomery County;\n(7) Prince George’s County;\n(8) Somerset County;\n(9) Talbot County; and\n(10) Wicomico County.\n(b) A physician, pharmacist, dentist, or nurse who treats an individual for an injury that was caused or shows evidence of having been caused by an automobile accident or a lethal weapon, or the individual in charge of a hospital that treats the injured individual, shall notify the county sheriff, the county police, or the Department of State Police of the injury as soon as practicable.\n(c) A report of injury shall include:\n(1) The injured individual’s name and address, if known;\n(2) A description of the injury; and\n(3) Any other facts concerning the matter that might assist in detecting crime.\n(d) An individual who fails to make a report required by this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $25.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=20-701","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"57fa4bbc17198437f91f767edc68592249318dc88c36253f3c726f2b3dfa65f6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-20-603","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-20-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
