Code, Health - General § 21–259.1","heading":"","body":"(a) A person may not open a sealed, closed, or fastened food container in a food store or supermarket if opening the package or container will leave the item in an unsalable condition, unless the person:\n(1) Intends to purchase the item; or\n(2) Has received from the proprietor authority to open the item.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $25.\n(c) The penalty provisions of Subtitle 12 of this title do not apply to this section.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=21-259.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"0c3f876d150e143f2971f41a03a66693402cf86ad038b1c841d590ad809c95b9","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-21-259","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-21-259.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
