Code, Health - General § 24–804","heading":"","body":"(a) The Mayor of Baltimore City shall appoint an oversight committee for the Program.\n(b) The oversight committee shall consist of:\n(1) One representative from academia who specializes in public health issues;\n(2) One representative from law enforcement;\n(3) One representative from the Maryland Department of Health;\n(4) One representative of a Baltimore City community group;\n(5) One representative of an HIV advocacy group;\n(6) One addiction treatment counselor;\n(7) One recovering injecting drug user; and\n(8) Up to three other individuals whom the Baltimore City Health Department determines to be appropriate for appointment to the oversight committee.\n(c) The oversight committee shall:\n(1) Provide advice to the Commissioner of Health and the Program Director on developing and revising as necessary:\n(i) Program operating procedures for the distribution and exchange of hypodermic needles and syringes to injecting drug users;\n(ii) A plan for community outreach and education;\n(iii) A protocol for providing referrals for Program participants to addiction treatment and rehabilitation; and\n(iv) A plan for evaluating the Program; and\n(2) Provide ongoing oversight of the Program and make recommendations to the Program Director or the Commissioner of Health regarding any aspect of Program procedures, operation, or evaluation.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=24-804","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"9a2272c51aa76d12e58e1121368240b7407dd50c042defe2545e6468a7ad2861","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-24-803","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-24-805"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
