Code, Health - General § 24–805","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commissioner of Health shall appoint a Director for the Program.\n(b) With the advice of the oversight committee, the Director shall develop and revise as necessary:\n(1) Program operating procedures for the distribution and exchange of hypodermic needles and syringes to injecting drug users;\n(2) A community outreach and education program; and\n(3) A protocol for providing referrals for Program participants to substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation.\n(c) The Director shall submit the operating procedures, the plan for a community outreach and education program, and the addiction treatment referral protocol to the Commissioner of Health or the Commissioner’s designee for approval prior to the implementation of revised procedures.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=24-805","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"6693a13e3f0fd45642e3f38ea1ddcc395a5a2cbbfbd9a828a60e08282bdde4af","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-24-804","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-24-806"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
