Code, Health - General § 5–601.1","heading":"","body":"For purposes of this Part I of this subtitle, an electronic signature shall have the same effect as a manual signature if the electronic signature:\n(1) Uses an algorithm approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology;\n(2) Is unique to the individual using it;\n(3) Is capable of verification;\n(4) Is under the sole control of the individual using it;\n(5) Is linked to data in such a manner that if the data are changed, the electronic signature is invalidated;\n(6) Persists with the document and not by association in separate files; and\n(7) Is bound to a digital certificate.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=5-601.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"87f62029b6549fdf428409042bbd30bba53722f96f0138f254485908ed17fdbf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-5-601","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-5-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
