Code, Health - General § 7–611","heading":"","body":"(a) When an application for certificate of approval is filed, the Department shall have an investigation made of:\n(1) The applicant;\n(2) The private group home for which approval is sought;\n(3) The facts stated in the application;\n(4) The number of other group homes or alternative living units in the neighborhood;\n(5) The public utilities and services available; and\n(6) The access to transportation, shopping and recreational facilities, and health-related services.\n(b) When an application for certificate of approval is filed, the Secretary shall hold a public hearing on the application.\n(c) (1) The Secretary shall publish a notice of the hearing within 60 days of receipt of the completed application.\n(2) The notice shall state:\n(i) The name of the applicant;\n(ii) The type of approval that is sought;\n(iii) The location of the proposed private group home; and\n(iv) The time and place that the Secretary sets for the hearing, which shall be at least 7 but not more than 15 days after the last publication of the notice.\n(d) The notice shall be published at least twice in 1 week:\n(1) In 2 newspapers published in the county where the private group home is to be located;\n(2) If only 1 newspaper is published in that county, in that newspaper; or\n(3) If a newspaper is not published in that county, any newspaper with substantial circulation in that county.","path":["Article - Health - General"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghg\u0026section=7-611","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:48Z","sha256":"de56bd5c4a00992b27a89a5a216996d991a3215d14b05b65b4f661443adc354b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-7-610","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-general-7-612"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
