Code, Health Occupations § 14–5C–09","heading":"","body":"(a) To qualify for a license, an applicant shall be an individual who meets the requirements of this section.\n(b) The applicant shall:\n(1) Be of good moral character;\n(2) Be at least 18 years old; and\n(3) Complete a criminal history records check in accordance with § 14–308.1 of this title.\n(c) An applicant for a polysomnographic technologist license shall:\n(1) Have passed the national certifying examination given by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or another examination approved by the Board;\n(2) Submit to the Board proof of certification as a registered polysomnographic technologist or other national certification approved by the Board;\n(3) (i) 1. Have graduated from a polysomnographic educational program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; or\n2. A. Have graduated from a sleep technologist educational program that is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine; and\nB. Have completed a clinical component of an educational program as established by the Committee and approved by the Board;\n(ii) 1. Have graduated from a respiratory care educational program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; and\n2. Have completed the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care’s curriculum for a polysomnography certificate that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; or\n(iii) 1. Have graduated from an electroneuro–diagnostic educational program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; and\n2. Have completed additional units, modules, and courses of instruction focused on polysomnographic technology that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; and\n(4) Meet any other educational or clinical requirements established by the Committee and approved by the Board.","path":["Article - Health Occupations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gho\u0026section=14-5C-09","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:58Z","sha256":"4dccef23413d01895ffb75eb5d2e3fb4ad3327ed931f66ec9413fcd2de066e44","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-14-5c-08","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-14-5c-11"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
