Code, Health Occupations § 4–206","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, the Board may adopt rules and regulations that authorize a licensed dental hygienist to perform additional intraoral functions.\n(b) The Board may not authorize a licensed dental hygienist to:\n(1) Perform a diagnosis;\n(2) Perform an extraction;\n(3) Repair a cavity;\n(4) Correct tooth placement;\n(5) Perform a surgical procedure; or\n(6) Administer anesthesia other than the following:\n(i) Topical anesthesia; or\n(ii) Local anesthesia in accordance with § 4–206.1 of this subtitle.","path":["Article - Health Occupations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gho\u0026section=4-206","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:58Z","sha256":"06e614ec60423d2e6a977785070121f3e976c030691ef16364c58d09f407d7fe","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-4-205","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-4-206.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
