Code, Health Occupations § 4–206.2","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to the requirements of subsections (b) and (c) of this section, a dental hygienist may administer nitrous oxide to a patient provided the administration of nitrous oxide is under the supervision of a dentist who:\n(1) Is physically present on the premises; and\n(2) Prescribes the administration of nitrous oxide by the dental hygienist.\n(b) Before a dental hygienist may administer nitrous oxide under subsection (a) of this section, the dental hygienist shall successfully complete the following:\n(1) Any educational requirements established by the Board; and\n(2) A written and clinical examination as required by the Board.\n(c) A dental hygienist shall complete the educational requirements established by the Board under subsection (b)(1) of this section through an accredited dental hygiene program.","path":["Article - Health Occupations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gho\u0026section=4-206.2","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:58Z","sha256":"32944ac80ce6320f991b6beeeb77d2c6e86dc79ef655f3d76363a2a8d6480223","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-4-206.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-4-206.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
