Code, Health Occupations § 8–6B–12","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, the Board shall issue a license to any applicant who:\n(1) Meets the requirements of this subtitle; and\n(2) Pays a license fee set by the Board.\n(b) The Board shall include on each license that the Board issues a license designation as:\n(1) Licensed electrologist; or\n(2) Licensed electrology instructor.\n(c) (1) On receipt of the criminal history record information of an applicant for licensure forwarded to the Board in accordance with § 8-303 of this title, in determining whether to grant a license, the Board shall consider:\n(i) The age at which the crime was committed;\n(ii) The circumstances surrounding the crime;\n(iii) The length of time that has passed since the crime;\n(iv) Subsequent work history;\n(v) Employment and character references; and\n(vi) Other evidence that demonstrates that the applicant does not pose a threat to the public health or safety.\n(2) The Board may not issue a license if the criminal history record information required under § 8-303 of this title has not been received.","path":["Article - Health Occupations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gho\u0026section=8-6B-12","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:58Z","sha256":"c31cdb99d0317cc5caf8c453de049981a6e1c44ba281944c60542e42730ebf15","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-8-6b-11","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-8-6b-13"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
