Code, Health Occupations § 8–6C–16","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, the Board shall issue a license to an applicant who:\n(1) Meets the requirements of this subtitle; and\n(2) Pays a fee set by the Board.\n(b) The Board shall include on each license that the Board issues a designation of licensed direct–entry midwife.\n(c) (1) On receipt of the criminal history record information of an applicant for licensure forwarded to the Board in accordance with § 8–303 of this title, in determining whether to grant a license, the Board shall consider:\n(i) The age at which the crime was committed;\n(ii) The circumstances surrounding the crime;\n(iii) The length of time that has passed since the crime;\n(iv) Subsequent work history;\n(v) Employment and character references; and\n(vi) Other evidence that demonstrates whether the applicant poses a threat to the public health or safety.\n(2) The Board may not issue a license if the criminal history record information required under § 8–303 of this title has not been received.","path":["Article - Health Occupations"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gho\u0026section=8-6C-16","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:58Z","sha256":"82d6b6d4f499758bf714c464a2c712d713f8ec2d4c58b0d15b40aa71ffde18ad","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-8-6c-15","next":"us-md/md.-code-health-occupations-8-6c-17"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
