Code, Housing and Community Development § 21–102","heading":"","body":"The General Assembly finds that:\n(1) there are in the area of operation of the Washington Authority unsafe and unsanitary housing and a shortage of safe and sanitary housing for persons of eligible income;\n(2) these conditions cause too much public money to be spent for crime prevention and punishment, public health and safety, fire and accident protection, and other public services and facilities;\n(3) the public interest requires the remedying of these conditions;\n(4) the assistance provided under this title to remedy these conditions is a public use and purpose and an essential governmental function for which public money may be spent; and\n(5) this title is necessary in the public interest.","path":["Article - Housing and Community Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghs\u0026section=21-102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:07Z","sha256":"b6687358abd71d1ddcf6e49b8208b543e225a81ec2ce02fcd659969d63737efd","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-21-101","next":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-21-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
