Code, Housing and Community Development § 4–2205","heading":"","body":"(a) A shelter home:\n(1) shall provide clients with a temporary residence and necessary counseling to link clients to appropriate community services to stabilize the clients’ living conditions;\n(2) shall accept, from the police and other referral sources in the community, clients for temporary shelter;\n(3) shall conform to applicable State and local fire codes, health codes, and zoning ordinances; and\n(4) is subject to the regulations adopted by the Department.\n(b) The Department shall:\n(1) establish standards of care and admission policies for shelter homes;\n(2) monitor the operation of the shelter homes; and\n(3) annually evaluate the effectiveness of the shelter homes.\n(c) The Department may contract with private nonprofit organizations to operate the Program.","path":["Article - Housing and Community Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghs\u0026section=4-2205","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:07Z","sha256":"5ab270c906c0ce3aedf6f29afc7b39ba45ca1d190f596345baa44c0aaf2f5535","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-2204","next":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-2206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
