Code, Housing and Community Development § 4–2703","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Before providing shelter and supportive services to an unaccompanied minor in need of shelter, a service provider shall:\n(i) register with the Department;\n(ii) develop and implement a procedure to screen each staff member who works with minors, including through a State and national criminal history records check or a private agency background check conducted in accordance with § 4–2708 of this subtitle; and\n(iii) obtain written consent from the unaccompanied minor in need of shelter.\n(2) The written consent from the unaccompanied minor in need of shelter shall state the minor’s:\n(i) age;\n(ii) guardianship status, if known; and\n(iii) living situation.\n(b) A service provider may not provide shelter to a minor if the service provider has knowledge that the minor:\n(1) knowingly provided false information in the written consent required under subsection (a) of this section; or\n(2) does not meet the definition of an unaccompanied minor in need of shelter under this subtitle.","path":["Article - Housing and Community Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghs\u0026section=4-2703","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:07Z","sha256":"83192e5d93a2aab2f1a093b89824f1fc00eefbcf87c8ff002359cdeea8893abf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-2702","next":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-2704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
