Code, Housing and Community Development § 4–702","heading":"","body":"The General Assembly finds that:\n(1) lead paint is present in a large percentage of residential properties in the State, particularly residential rental properties constructed before 1950;\n(2) lead paint on the friction surfaces of windows is a leading cause of lead poisoning;\n(3) lead poisoning harms the health and well-being of children and pregnant women and causes substantial long-term public costs for medical expenses and additional education; and\n(4) reduction or elimination of lead in the environment will reduce:\n(i) the risk of lead poisoning of children and pregnant women;\n(ii) the incidence of learning disabilities and behavioral problems in children who live in older housing; and\n(iii) the cost of publicly financed medical care.","path":["Article - Housing and Community Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghs\u0026section=4-702","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:07Z","sha256":"27543b37ccd9de7a6bacd107fb95c1bb85e2bc0f2bc790dc8046326acdd05408","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-701","next":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-703"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
