Code, Housing and Community Development § 4–811","heading":"","body":"(a) To qualify for an emergency assistance loan made under § 4-804(4) of this subtitle, an applicant:\n(1) shall be unable to keep payments current on the applicant’s home mortgage because of unforeseeable adverse personal or economic circumstances;\n(2) shall be at risk of forfeiting title to the applicant’s home; and\n(3) reasonably may be expected to resume regular mortgage payments within 24 months after the first mortgage assistance payment is provided.\n(b) For an emergency assistance loan under § 4-804(4) of this subtitle:\n(1) the Department shall consider the amount of equity in the property; and\n(2) the loan may not exceed an amount equal to 36 payments of principal and interest on all superior liens, plus:\n(i) late fees;\n(ii) taxes;\n(iii) insurance payments; and\n(iv) other payments needed for the loan to be current.","path":["Article - Housing and Community Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghs\u0026section=4-811","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:07Z","sha256":"78442b77404fae46a5e1f76a8fc25751ae04127f20a429f3eb48a35f2bfdb72a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-810","next":"us-md/md.-code-housing-and-community-development-4-812"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
