Code, Human Services § 10–701","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Adult dependent” means an individual who is:\n(1) at least 18 years old;\n(2) an individual with long–term care needs; and\n(3) the spouse, parent, stepparent, grandparent, child, stepchild, sibling, aunt, uncle, son–in–law, daughter–in–law, mother–in–law, or father–in–law of a family caregiver.\n(c) “Family caregiver” means an individual who cares for an adult dependent.\n(d) “Individual with long–term care needs” means an individual who:\n(1) is unable to perform at least three activities of daily living without substantial assistance from another individual; or\n(2) (i) is unable to perform at least one activity of daily living without substantial assistance from another individual; and\n(ii) requires substantial supervision to protect the individual from threats to the individual’s health and safety due to severe cognitive impairment.\n(e) “Program” means the Family Caregiver Assistance Program.","path":["Article - Human Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghu\u0026section=10-701","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:17Z","sha256":"3cfbdd92dc9f5882faae29b8de1059c50064706507c3a313e72e2cad51419c80","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-10-607","next":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-10-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
