Code, Human Services § 11–702","heading":"","body":"The Corporation may not:\n(1) participate in litigation, unless:\n(i) the Corporation or a grantee is a party; or\n(ii) a grantee is representing an eligible client in litigation in which the interpretation of this title or a guideline established by the Corporation under this title is an issue;\n(2) interfere with a lawyer’s professional responsibilities to clients under the Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct;\n(3) compete directly or indirectly with any grantee;\n(4) contribute or make available the Corporation’s funds or services to a political party or association or the campaign of a candidate for public or party office;\n(5) except as provided in §§ 501(h) and 4911 of the Internal Revenue Code:\n(i) carry on propaganda or otherwise attempt to influence legislation; and\n(ii) participate or intervene in a political campaign on behalf of a candidate for public office, including publishing or distributing statements;\n(6) notwithstanding any other provision of this title, conduct or carry on activities not authorized for an organization:\n(i) qualified under § 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or\n(ii) to which contributions are deductible under § 170(c)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code.","path":["Article - Human Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghu\u0026section=11-702","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:17Z","sha256":"e3da4b8cedba98a79c9f9fe526bf32c0b8c49591651d96dc6b83614f42ef72ca","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-11-701","next":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-11-801"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
