Code, Human Services § 3–302","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) This section does not apply in Montgomery County.\n(2) Except for child support enforcement, a local director shall administer the social service and public assistance activities in the county in accordance with Title 4, Subtitle 2 and Title 5, Subtitle 2 of this article.\n(b) A local director has a general administrative responsibility to the Social Services Administration and the Family Investment Administration.\n(c) The responsibilities of a local director include:\n(1) long-range and short-range planning for the functions and objectives of the local department;\n(2) administering the operations of the local department;\n(3) except as provided in § 3-301(f)(2) of this subtitle or as otherwise provided by law, appointing personnel of the local department in accordance with the State Personnel and Pensions Article;\n(4) improving administrative and social work practices and procedures;\n(5) submitting periodic reports and evaluations that the Social Services Administration and the Family Investment Administration require;\n(6) submitting an annual report to the local board; and\n(7) undertaking any other responsibilities required by the Social Services Administration, the Family Investment Administration, or applicable laws.","path":["Article - Human Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghu\u0026section=3-302","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:17Z","sha256":"6d0d45a42c5e7ea521d575777371731755878526cb5d64853da406eed1369f59","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-3-301","next":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-3-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
