Code, Human Services § 6–802","heading":"","body":"An appropriation made under § 6–801 of this subtitle may be used only to:\n(1) provide free volunteer income tax assistance that helps low–income individuals and families:\n(i) file tax returns;\n(ii) avoid predatory fees; and\n(iii) claim the federal earned income tax credit or the State earned income tax credit under § 10–704 of the Tax – General Article;\n(2) coordinate and expand access to free, fact–based financial education and coaching for low–income individuals and families;\n(3) connect low–income individuals and families to affordable, high–quality financial services;\n(4) recruit, train, and manage a corps of volunteers to provide financial education, coaching, and tax preparation services for low–income individuals and families; and\n(5) conduct outreach to low–income individuals and families.","path":["Article - Human Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghu\u0026section=6-802","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:17Z","sha256":"f097ff3fdb0ae4deadfd99dbf97266011430a7ad5b02ac97b17424a70eeca9be","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-6-801","next":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-7-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
