Code, Human Services § 8–1304","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commission consists of the following members:\n(1) two members of the Senate of Maryland, appointed by the President of the Senate;\n(2) two members of the House of Delegates, appointed by the Speaker of the House;\n(3) the Secretary of Budget and Management, or the Secretary’s designee;\n(4) the Secretary of Disabilities, or the Secretary’s designee;\n(5) the Secretary of Health, or the Secretary’s designee;\n(6) the Secretary of Human Services, or the Secretary’s designee;\n(7) the Secretary of Juvenile Services, or the Secretary’s designee;\n(8) the Secretary of State Police, or the Secretary’s designee;\n(9) the State Superintendent of Schools, or the Superintendent’s designee;\n(10) the Executive Director of the State Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, or the Executive Director’s designee; and\n(11) the following members, appointed by the Governor:\n(i) two licensed mental health clinicians with expertise in trauma, including demonstrated experience and training in child and adolescent care and family care;\n(ii) one licensed geriatric mental health clinician with expertise in trauma;\n(iii) two members of the research community with expertise in trauma;\n(iv) six representatives from community organizations, nonprofit organizations, or youth organizations with an expertise in trauma;\n(v) one representative of the Office of Child Care Advisory Council;\n(vi) one representative of the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence;\n(vii) one representative of an urban municipal government with expertise in trauma;\n(viii) one representative of a rural municipal government with expertise in trauma; and\n(ix) one representative of a suburban municipal government with expertise in trauma.\n(b) (1) The term of an appointed member under this section is 4 years concurrent with the term of the Governor’s term of office.\n(2) A member who is appointed after the term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.","path":["Article - Human Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghu\u0026section=8-1304","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:17Z","sha256":"53cf1fab095a672b6d67cc7a6327a81bff991d1c82a077d4eaedd70c2c6de71b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-8-1303","next":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-8-1305"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
