Code, Human Services § 8–717","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this subsection, the Attorney General may bring an action against a youth transportation company for a violation of § 8–716 of this subtitle.\n(2) In an action brought under this subsection, the Attorney General may seek:\n(i) injunctive relief; and\n(ii) statutory damages up to:\n1. $1,000 for a first offense; and\n2. $3,000 for a subsequent offense.\n(b) (1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3) of this subsection, an individual may bring an action against a youth transportation company for a violation of § 8–716 of this subtitle.\n(2) In an action brought under this subsection, the individual may seek:\n(i) restitution;\n(ii) compensatory damages;\n(iii) statutory damages up to $500 per violation; and\n(iv) if awarded restitution or damages, reasonable attorney’s fees.\n(3) An action brought under this section shall be filed within 10 years after the date that the victim reaches the age of majority.","path":["Article - Human Services"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ghu\u0026section=8-717","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:17Z","sha256":"f0e136519f148ec17965a66a7411e161a3ff32541a49a7e23e8698fd7c981150","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-8-716","next":"us-md/md.-code-human-services-8-801"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
