Code, Insurance § 16–202","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Each policy of life insurance shall contain a provision that a grace period shall be allowed within which the payment of any premium after the first may be made.\n(2) The grace period shall be:\n(i) 30 days;\n(ii) at the option of the insurer, 1 month of not less than 30 days; or\n(iii) 4 weeks, for a policy of industrial life insurance with premiums payable more frequently than monthly.\n(b) The policy continues in full force during the grace period.\n(c) If a claim arises under the policy during the grace period, the amount of any premium due or overdue may be deducted from the policy proceeds.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=16-202","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"bf0651d0d7b227aec4e7389ed11cb90f82d445e921d32a451070938dda3b0f98","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-16-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-16-203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
