Code, Insurance § 2–102","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The Commissioner shall establish divisions or sections in the Administration, along the following lines of responsibility:\n(i) life insurance and health insurance;\n(ii) property insurance and casualty insurance;\n(iii) audit and examination;\n(iv) insurance professions;\n(v) consumer affairs; and\n(vi) insurance fraud.\n(2) The Commissioner may:\n(i) establish other areas of responsibility in the Administration; and\n(ii) reorganize or abolish areas of responsibility as necessary to fulfill effectively the duties of the Commissioner.\n(b) The Commissioner shall report to the General Assembly about:\n(1) the initial organizational structure of the Administration; and\n(2) any substantial changes in organizational structure.\n(c) The organization of each division shall be according to functional area and shall be designed for efficiency, service to the public, and effective regulation.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=2-102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"25fcdef2af8839987caa582764588881e354bb6d767389d2a129cf50a2a893d8","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-2-101","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-2-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
