Code, Insurance § 2–206","heading":"","body":"When advisable to determine compliance with this article, the Commissioner may examine the accounts, records, documents, and transactions that relate to the insurance affairs or proposed insurance affairs of:\n(1) an insurance producer, surplus lines broker, general agent, adjuster, public adjuster, or adviser;\n(2) a person with the exclusive or dominant right under a contract to manage or control an insurer;\n(3) a person that, for the purpose of controlling the management of a domestic insurer, holds the shares of voting stock or policyholder proxies of the domestic insurer as voting trustee or otherwise; or\n(4) a person engaged in, proposing to engage in, or helping in the promotion or formation of:\n(i) a domestic insurer or insurance holding corporation; or\n(ii) a corporation to finance a domestic insurer or the production of its business.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=2-206","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"8c0567c3264fc9bb1b4629aa62f7e8f05d676da08b0ca3b41768b1b4ff4f5716","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-2-205","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-2-207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
