Code, Insurance § 26–502","heading":"","body":"(a) A person that willfully violates this title is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or both.\n(b) In addition to any other penalty provided in this title, the Commissioner after notice and hearing may impose on a licensee or representative for each violation of this title a penalty:\n(1) not exceeding $25,000 for a licensee; or\n(2) not exceeding $5,000 for a representative.\n(c) Instead of or in addition to a penalty imposed under this section, the Commissioner may require that restitution be made to any citizen who has suffered financial injury because of a violation of this title.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=26-502","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"d0443d97c94bd8d03f718a9afeaace744d6f058aa4577d2b7c354fa91fc1e6fd","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-26-501.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-27-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
